This year, the theme of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) 2023 is ‘Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together’. The overarching WAAW slogan continues to be ‘Antimicrobials: Handle with Care‘. WAAW is celebrated from 18-24 November every year.
The WAAW 2023 campaign calls on all sectors to encourage the prudent use of antimicrobials and to strengthen preventive measures addressing AMR, working together collaboratively through a One Health approach. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) affects us all, it’s a threat to humans, animals, plants and the environment. Fighting AMR is a truly global endeavour . Therefore, this years theme focusses on collaboration across sectors to preserve the efficacy of these critical medicines.
